  • Night after night

I have stayed awake hoping for the light

    That which glows from you

The one for whom my heart is fool

    I write you letters

Painting love in portraits more beautiful than Monalisa

Only if I could canvas same courage whenever our eyes met

For how I'm drawn to you, e bi lyk I dey ment

I could send you my life full of these letters and portraits

But I fear you'd say no and na my heart go frustrate

Now I only have to watch you smile in the warmth of another man's arms

So dear friends, when you find the one who drives you crazy

Do not waver, use dat yur kabu kabu tek kari am na yur lady

Allow the you make the you-turn for love

Cos these days, na patient dog Ι›yΙ› dey turn.

  • This is the mystery that confounds me so,

That haunts me hard and perplexes my soul,

It hits me so hard far below my belt,

For why must all life be made to meet death.

I am a candle that lights up the dark,

Burning myself to leave behind a mark,

For time is at war with me and my goals,

Till I grow decayed and turn to a ghost.

Of what use therein is life to be lived,

When struggles and strive is all it could give,

We claw and clutch just to struggle to see,

The end result is a shadow and scream.

I am a candle that burnt out one day,

To be this shadow you wish could be gone,

Yet soon we'd be pals when you do fade away.

    This thing called love

    turned me into a poet

my heart once belong to someone

our memories are lengthy yarns I’d weave into paragraphs and sonnets

sunrise till sunsets all I did was meditate as each day passed

with a fresh sore and pains my eyes couldn’t conceal.

one day I had you, the next you’d slipped away from my space like a rebellious infant.

all along I had immersed you into my pool of expectations and drowned the promises of forever.

no one ever plants a flower and tells it how to bloom.

no one should commit and tell each other how to love.

for love is acceptance despite our imperfections

a constant decision to stay through the pain

in good and in bad times

    no off days.

a revelation I wish I knew at the genesis.

  • The clock ticks loudly

    My heart beats faster.

    Is it today?

    Is my freedom today?

    I wait to hear.

I wait to hear the voice in the midst of the silence.

    It's Hope's

"Freedom is close", it assures me.

But the voice in my head,

That voice that faces reality head on, whispers as usual

"my dear one, it's not today".

    But I'll hope still.

Yes!! I daresay, I'll hope still.

Freedom will find me, It'll find me someday.

  • The next time I see you

I hope I have the strength to toss what I feel

Repeat to myself that you've hurt me

With a thousand bruises so I can turn the other way

    And not

And not jump into your arms

Hug you tightly like my life depends on it

The next time I see you

I hope my mouth fails to open like a wrongly inputted safe

Concealing the ocean of words at the bank of my heart

I hope to skip that day jumping over it with a rope

The next time I see you

    I hope you're broken

So, I can fit your tiny pieces and remind you

Why we should still be together.
